Since the launching of the 4G Mobile Broadband, subscriptions to the product has been a growing trend especially that it is already reaching near ultra-broadband speeds. It is ideal to get familiar with their differences as it can help an individual in choosing the best broadband plan out there.
Built-in Mobile Broadband is usually found in mobile phones and handheld gadgets though there are also some that are found in laptops. The good side of this is that it is very energy efficient helping you cut down in your power costs. This is very ideal for travelers or those that are constantly on the go as it becomes very handy and does not consume any space at all. The drawback of this is that it may cost you more money than what you expect. Another disadvantage is that you are only attached to a single carrier. If ever you wanted to switch carriers, you need to dispose the laptop and purchase a newer one which can be really costly
On the other hand, mobile broadband cards are attractively cheaper and can easily be purchased whenever a subscriber wants it. At times, broadband cards have lock-in periods or service agreement of up to 2 years though. Despite of this, subscribers will be able to switch or acquire newer cards that may offer newer features and capabilities provided that the subscriber is able to satisfy the service agreement. The downside is that these cards are prone to damage especially if mishandled by the user. They are prone to external forces such as heat, water and moisture. Also, because it can be attached and removed, there is also the possibility that it may be misplaced.
