At times, broadband cards have lock-in periods or service agreement of up to 2 years though. Despite of this, subscribers will be able to switch or acquire newer cards that may offer newer features and capabilities provided that the subscriber is able to satisfy the service agreement. The downside is that these cards are prone to damage especially if mishandled by the user. They are prone to external forces such as heat, water and moisture. Also, because it can be attached and removed, there is also the possibility that it may be misplaced.
